Bucher Vineyard

Over Labor Day weekend, I headed up to Healdsburg to do an early (for me, not for a farmer) photo shoot in John Bucher’s rolling vineyards. John sells his grapes to a few select wineries in the Healdsburg area, including Williams Selyem, Holdredge, Arista, and Papapietro Perry. The husband & wife team are making their first label as well – Bucher Vineyard wines! So exciting! I had a fantastic time with John cruising through his vineyards, dogs in tow, checking out the views, learning a ton from a grower himself. It was one amazing morning. The Buchers are in the process of fine tuning their website, so take a peek in a few more weeks – you may see a couple of my shots up there!

Solo Road Trip 2011 – The Map

I have finally, finally done my map to show where I went! This covers all stops, including sightseeing detours, for the most part. A few things like Devil’s Postpile and other small day trips aren’t accounted for.

Look ma! I’m in Napa!

(Taking a break from vacation photos…)

A friend and I decided to wander around Napa today and just shoot. It’s pretty fun to look at this town through photographer eyes instead of as a resident. What I shot today: Random lightpoles with funny stickers, the old building that I’d kill to have as a studio, people enjoying Angele’s patio, the striking colors of the Fish Story patio, the cool signs at Morimoto, the super comfy chairs at Tyler Florence, the river walk, the doors at the Uptown and random details throughout downtown.

Las Vegas, NV – July 6 – 11, 2011

Ah, Vegas. Finally the part of the vacation that felt like a vacation. I spent every day at the pool (until we got kicked out almost every day because of lightning), reading my book and sweatin’ up a storm. The good ol’ Excalibur now has an adults only pool which ROCKED. I hung out with some coworkers in my 5 days in Vegas, went to some random clubs & bars, met a cool guy from Michigan at one of the bars in NYNY and pretty much did nothing. It was great.

Zion National Park – July 6, 2011

After a quick nap in the Kaibob National Forest, I made my way from the Grand Canyon back to Hurricane, UT. Zion National Park is only about 30 minutes from Hurricane, so since I was *right there* I couldn’t pass it up! I headed up to Zion before heading back to Vegas.

Grand Canyon – July 6, 2011

Wednesday morning, July 6, I left Hurricane, UT, for the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It’s quite an impressive hole in the ground. I can’t wait to get to the South Rim to compare notes.

(Someday I’ll figure out WordPress. Please excuse the silly gallery post. Just click on the photo to open the gallery and then you can scroll through!)
