(Taking a break from vacation photos…)
A friend and I decided to wander around Napa today and just shoot. It’s pretty fun to look at this town through photographer eyes instead of as a resident. What I shot today: Random lightpoles with funny stickers, the old building that I’d kill to have as a studio, people enjoying Angele’s patio, the striking colors of the Fish Story patio, the cool signs at Morimoto, the super comfy chairs at Tyler Florence, the river walk, the doors at the Uptown and random details throughout downtown.

Yes – this is post #2. You’ll recognize some of the same photos, but I’ve now moved my blog to WordPress so I wanted to test out a new photo size…

I’ve known Dan since I was 19….so like 2 years now? Ha. Just kidding. I’m thrilled to see him so happy with Michelle – and she’s so awesome! Match made in heaven, those two. We had a great day of shooting around the Valley, with all of the fall colors and amazing clouds.

I love being commissioned. It makes my subject so focused that it allows me to use my creative energy around that subject instead of coming up with everything all at once. I really enjoy it! Lucas Pools will feature pools they have done around Napa Valley. Pool 1 is below…my favorite photo is the first one…

Thank you again to Colorful Harvest for sending me purple artichokes! These worked out perfectly for my shoot and I am so grateful to them for that. Oh and they were delicious….extra hearty.

For my birthday/Mother’s Day this year, my dad and brother took us to The Albany Bulb. I’ve lived in this area the majority of my life and had never even known this existed. It was a chilly May day, and we ended up walking the entire Bulb, not quite knowing where everything was. Here’s an interesting read on The Bulb… Sidenote: What is my fascination with landfills? Treasure Island….The Bulb…The Marina….

This is my brother’s dog, Lola. She’s some sort of mutt, a rescue dog my brother got from the Marin Humane Society. She’s adorable but has selective hearing…

These rusty oil barrels were laying around near the abandoned trains at 8th Street in Sonoma (Hwy 121). One of my favorite things to shoot is anything rusty, dirty, old, abandoned or beat up. The textures and colors and history of what might have been intrigue me.
